Annual Shareholder’s Meeting of the AHEPA Memoprial Building, Inc. will be held on WEDNESDAY, May 6, 209, 7:00 pm at the AHEPA Memorial Building, 10635 W. Ridge Road, Hales Corners.

AGENDA

1. Reading of the previous shareholder’s meeting minutes
2. Financial reports and explanations
3. Need for additional revenue and its effect on the building status
4. Election of committee members whose terms have expired (John Galanis, Gus Dimitropoulos, Chris Ganos, Nicholas Ganos)

New Business – Old Business:
5. Discussion of all other matters of interest relating to the Lodge
6. The present and future finance situation of the Lodge
7. Open to suggestions on the use of the building and its operations

Agenda for Meeting Wednesday May 20th, 2009 at 7:00 pm:

1) Election of new Chapter 43 officers for 2009-2010
2) Election of Delegates for the 87th AHEPA Supreme Convention in San Francisco , July 29th-July 5th, 2009. (Please call President Tim Stasinoulias at 262-442-0422 or send him an email at for more information.
3) Update on 5th Annual “OPA” Greek Festival preparations and committees.

Chapter News and Announcements

1. The 5th Annual “OPA” Greek Festival will be held Friday July 24 -Sunday July 25th at the AHEPA Chapter No. 43 Grounds. Great Food, Music, Games, Beer, Greek Wine Tastings, a Historical Exhibit, Bakery and Raffle. Please volunteer your time and talent. The more money we raise from our festival, the more we can give to our Hellenic, Church, and Neighborhood philanthropic projects including our own AHEPA Scholarship Foundation. Please contact Tim Stasinoulias on how you can help us!

2. AHEPA WEEKEND is May 16 & 17.
Saturday May 16th is the 1st Annual Facebook-driven “Hug a Greek Day”. So Log on , spread good cheer and have some fun.
Sunday May 17th is worldwide AHEPA SUNDAY! This year’s special service will be held at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Details and exact dates to follow

3. The 9TH Annual AHEPA Midwest Regional Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 at GENEVA NATIONAL GOLF RESORT in Lake Geneva. It is a 1:00pm Shotgun Start. Fee is $130 per golfer, includes box lunch, prizes, closest to pin, etc., sit down dinner and locker room. This event was moved to Wisconsin from Illinois to get more participation from our Chapter. We would like to get as many people to play as possible. You can also sponsor a hole for $100. Call Tim Stasinoulias for more info. The deadline is upon us.

4. 13th District Order of AHEPA Sports Award Banquet , Friday May 29th 2009 will be held Friday, May 29th 2009 at Fountain Blue Banquets 2300 Mannheim Rd. in Des Plaines. Reception at 6pm and Dinner at 7pm. This event is free for award recipients and only $25.00 for anyone else wishing to attend.

5. ATHLETIC AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS DUE MAY 15TH , 2009. Honoring High School and College Athletes of Greek Descent and AHEPA family, who have earned a school letter (at least one parent of Greek descent or AHEPA descent) Also, you may apply for the $1000.00 scholarship available to high school seniors that have attained a four year MINIMUM 3.0 “B” and excelled in Athletics. Awards to given on May 29th at the Banquet mentioned above. Call Tim Stasinoulias for an application.

6. Annual District Convention this year will be held on Friday June 5th through Sunday June 7th 2009 at the Homewood Suites in Orland Park, IL. We are sending delegates to this event.

7. The National Herald, the nation’s largest Greek-American Newspaper is available free in electronic format to AHEPA members. Go to Ahepa.org and click on AHEPA eNews to subscribe. Click April 22, 2009 issue to read the latest issue of the Herald.

Presidents Corner

Congratulations to everyone who was honored and celebrated at this year’s historic 50th Anniversary AHEPA Chapter 43 Scholarship Awards Luncheon held at the beautiful Bluemound Country Club. Also, thanks to everyone who made this event possible as well as to all those who support it!

Also, Please mark your calendars for our 5th Annual OPA! Greek Festival to be held Friday July 25 through Sunday July 27. (It’ll remind you of the good old “Greek Picnic” Days!)
