Mr. Vrakas will share his thoughts on his own Greek heritage, his travels to Greece as an invited guest of the Greek Gov’t & as a tourist visiting his family’s village, Ahepa, and local politics.

This special presentation is open to everyone!
(Ahepa Membership is not required to attend)

Chapter 43 Meeting March 17, 2010

New Business Agenda for Wed. March 17th, 2010

1. Report on our participation in the Ahepa Marrow Basketball Tournament.
2. Discuss our plans for the Greek Independence Day Parade on Sunday April 25th in Chicago.
3. Discuss our involvement in the District 13 Biennial Banquet in Chicago on Saturday May 1, 2010.
4. Begin appointment of committee chairmen for our “OPA” Greek Festival to be held July 23,24,&25.

Chapter News and Announcements


Urgent!!!!! Scholarship Application Deadline is upon us!

1. Student Scholarship Applications are now available for the 51st Annual Milwaukee AHEPA Chapter 43 Scholarship Foundation 2010 Awards. The applications are available at Sts. Constantine & Helen and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Churches, as well as High Schools throughout the four-county Metro Area of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha and may also be downloaded from our website at www.ahepa43.org. Applications must be postmarked no later than MARCH 1, 2010. For more information please contact James Jafferis at 262-786-7574.
The Awards luncheon will be held Sunday May 2, 2010 at the Bluemound Country Club.

2. Welcome to our new brother Ahepans, Mr. George Papageorge (Adaptive Micro Systems) and Mr. Mark
Franceschi (GM of Lexus of Glendale).
Their official initiation ceremony will take place after Easter.


3. MARCH 10-14, 2010 : 2ND ANNUAL AHEPA MARROW BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT in CHICAGO!!!! Last year’s event raised in excess of $100,000 and had 60 teams participate including 2 from our Chapter. This year we are sponsoring a Men’s team and a High School Boys team. Both teams will be coached by Steve Itsines and will include players from both Sts. Constantine & Helen and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Churches. It’s a great time! Go cheer them on! They need our support! For more info on game times,directions, etc. visit www.ahepamarrow.org.
Also, our sincere thanks to Dean & Toni Copoulos as well as
Peter & Flora Copoulos for their generous donation of new jerseys for our boys “Milwaukee Ahepa 43” basketball team! Bravo!

4. The Greek Independence Day Parade organized by ENOSIS, will again take place in Chicago’s GREEKTOWN on Sunday April 25, 2010 starting at 1:30pm. Milwaukee’s Chapter 43 plans to march with their fellow brothers along side the District 13 float. All Ahepans and their families are welcome. If there is enough interest we may be able to rent a bus like we did last year.(it was a lot of fun!) Please visit enosis.org for more information. Please contact Tim Stasinoulias to register.

5. We would like to extend heartfelt condolences to the families of our departed brothers Leo Boutris and Naki Dimitriades as well as to Brother Andy Haros on the passing of his father John Haros! May they rest in peace and their memory be eternal! Zoi se mas!

6. NEW THIS YEAR! The Regional District 13 Banquet will be held in Chicago on Saturday May 1, 2010 at 6pm. Further details to follow.

7. The Annual District 13 Convention will be held in Merrillville, Indiana in June 2010.

8. The Ahepa Lodge is now SMOKE-FREE and the Social Club has voluntarily and permanently vacated. Card playing will be allowed only as part of a fund-raiser. Other uses for this space are actively being pursued. Your ideas are welcome!

9. Last but not least! If you haven’t done so, please pay your 2009 dues asap. Also, we are now accepting 2010 dues. Thanks to our brothers who are current.

President’s Corner

As you can see, a lot of good things and events are happening at our chapter over the next couple of months. We hope you join us beginning March 3rd with our guest of honor Dan Vrakas, the Ahepa Marrow tournament, and the Ahepa Scholarship Awards Luncheon(our crown jewel and possibly the best of its kind in the country). This is a new Milwaukee Ahepa Chapter 43. Come join us! We need your help! Hope to see you there!
