2. Announcing the AHEPA 43 Business Network!
I need all current Brother AHEPANS to please
submit their business,career information, side business, or other special talents to chapter secretary Dan Dupies by way of mail or email. A business card will be fine. Also, include your email and website if you have one. We would like to assemble a list to include in our monthly mailings and possibly post on our website. It’s time to start promoting and supporting each other as much as possible!

3. VERY IMPORTANT! Dues statements recently were
sent to those members still owing for 2011 as well
as a few for 2010.

3. AHEPA Observes OXI Day;FDR’s Words about Greec Defiance Remembered.
WASHINGTON - Supreme President Dr. John Grossomanides issued the following statement on the 71st anniversary of "OXI Day" when Greece issued a defiant "No" to the evils of fascism presented by the Axis powers, and instead, said "Yes" to freedom on October 28, 1940. The Greeks successfully fought back against the Italian army, pushing the invaders back into Albania after one week. It would prove to be a costly military campaign for the Axis power. CHAPTER 43 NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. The 7th Annual OPA Greek Festival was held on August 19,20,21
and was a great success! We are grateful for the beautiful summer weather and an incredible group of volunteers! Also, we like to thank President Andrea Diaz and the Daughters of Penelope for their participation once again! They did an awesome job with our Raffle and their YiaYia's Pastries were delicious and very popular.

2. A BIG REASON for the success of this festival were the many sponsors who supported our festival and it's mission. These businesses and individuals/families generously made monetary and product donations that helped offset the costs of putting this festival on! We want to thank them very much! Please see the listing of our 2011 Festival sponsors printed on the back of this newsletter and keep it as a reference in the event you may need their products and services! Support those who support us!!! Also, The September issue of “Boomers” will also have an AD thanking our sponsors.

3. We would also like to thank Father Ted Trifon of Sts. Constantine & Helen and Father Jim Dokos of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Churches for their support of our festival!

Archbishop Proclaims AHEPA Sunday
Encyclical is Annual Observance and Recognition of AHEPA's Good Work

WASHINGTON - His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios proclaimed May 15, 2011 as "AHEPA Sunday" in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
"The connection of the Sunday of the Paralytic and AHEPA Sunday is very appropriate, as it offers to us a substantive and spiritual focus on the service that is offered in our communities and around the world by the AHEPA family," the archbishop stated in the encyclical.

"We are very grateful and honored by the kind words His Eminence used to describe the hard work that our members carry-out on a daily basis," said Supreme President Nicholas A. Karacostas.

CHAPTER 43 NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

1) The AHEPA NATIONAL BOWLING TOURNAMENT
was a huge success with over 100 Bowlers from as far
away as Denver participating! A sincere thanks to
Chairman Bobby Zaharis on a great job! Also, thanks to
Louie and Dennis Giannopoulos, Tony Nestoras, and Dan Dupies for their help! Congrats to Brothers Jimmy and Gus Yiannaras on taking 1st Place in the team doubles event! Awesome Bowling! Thanks to everyone who participated! It was a lot of FUN.

2. The 52nd Annual Milwaukee AHEPA 43 Scholarship Awards luncheon held on Sunday May 1, 2011 at the Wisconsin Club was another resounding success!

1) The AHEPA NATIONAL BOWLING TOURNAMENT is upon us and will be held Saturday April 9 &
Sunday April 10, 2011 at AMF Bowlero Lanes on 117th and Burleigh (11737 W. Burleigh Ave.) If you’re interested in forming a team and for more information please contact the event co-chair Brother Bobby Zaharis at 1-414-788-2041. (Players must be current members of AHEPA 43 with their dues paid) Program sponsorships are still available! We need your support!!!!!

Also: AHEPA family team bowling will be on Sunday April 10, 2011 at Bowlero Lanes. You can put together teams of 5 people ($25 per person) include 3 games, Trophy for winners, and luncheon party after the games !! Please

2. The 52nd Annual Milwaukee AHEPA 43 Scholarship Awards luncheon will be held on Sunday May 1, 2011 at the Wisconsin Club. The event begins at 12:30 p.m. and promises to be one of our best ever with an excellent group of scholarship recipients. Also, we are honored to have the Supreme President of the ORDER OF AHEPA, Nicholas A. Karacostas, Esq. as our keynote speaker. This is a first for our chapter!
